Because, if the new forest code is approved, the country is no longer the country of the Amazônia, the lung of the world. O Brasil encara estupefato o ato absurdo e quase criminoso de seus governantes: a aprovação do novo Código Florestal. Não é sem motivo, o novo Código Florestal se apresenta com ares de “novo código ruralista”, causando grande indignação nacional. Indignação que não passa despercebida à surdez proposital dos deputados e senadores.

O Brasil é conhecido mundialmente pela sua grande riqueza natural, mas infelizmente também é conhecido como o país que não sabe valorizar esta riqueza. Atualmente, somos os campeões mundiais do desmatamento. De cada 100 árvores cortadas entre 2000 e 2005, 42 estavam em território brasileiro. Desmata-se mais de 11,7 mil hectares por ano, o equivalente a 12 mil campos de futebol.

O governo brasileiro afirma que não é necessário desmatar para se desenvolver, no entanto, todas as emendas, que visavam à diminuição drástica do desmatamento e maiores sanções aos infratores, foram vetadas.

Como afirmado por Marcio Astrini, da Campanha Amazônia do Greenpeace: “O senador Randolfe afirmou que a emenda era a chance de colocar o bonito discurso de que não precisa mais desmatar no papel, mas é exatamente isso o que não acontece. Fica evidente que o governo cedeu às pressões dos ruralistas e acatou os pedidos de anistia das multas, anistia que vai custar R$8,4 bilhões aos cofres públicos. Isso mesmo, o governo vai deixar de cobrar dos infratores mais de R$8 bilhões que poderiam ser investidos em melhorias para a população Brasil.

Dentre diversos textos ruralistas, foi rejeitada a emenda que previa que as Reservas Legais deveriam continuar sendo registradas em cartório junto com os imóveis, pois a falta de registro dificultará o controle sobre as propriedades pelo Estado.

O quadro é vergonhoso, o Brasil se tornou o país do desrespeito à população que clama desesperada por um veto da presidente Dilma. Porque, se o novo código florestal for aprovado, o país deixa de ser o país da Amazônia, o pulmão do mundo, para se tornar o país do descaso, da vergonha, da ditadura da serra elétrica.
